At James Bay United, we truly embrace Congregation as First Choir. When you come to a service—weather you are a visitor or a long-time member, whether you are in the choir loft or in the pews, main floor or balcony—you are a member of the choir at James Bay United Church.
One of the many blessings of James Bay United Church is the incredible intimacy of the sanctuary. When I am sitting at the piano, it feels like I am being enfolded by the congregation. Looking out at you, lifting my voice alongside yours—there is a profound sense of “we”. . . we are singing together.
If singing in the choir loft is something that brings you joy, than you are, of course, totally welcome to do so. Weather it is every Sunday, once a month, or once a year, it doesn’t matter. Just like the worship service, music at James Bay United is come as you are. The Sunday morning pick-up choir meets in the lower hall every Sunday at 9:30 am. We gather together in fellowship to warm-up our bodies and voices, sing through the service together, and ready ourselves to help lead music that morning. We do this weather there is 2 of us or 20 of us. There is no need to email or RSVP, just come!
If you are an instrumentalist and would like to lend your talents that way, I would love to hear from you! Send me an email (music.jamesbayunitedchurch@gmail.com) or give me a call (250 686 4766) and we can chat about how best to make that happen. Even if you are just going to be in town for day—if you have your instrument and are interested in joining in the joyful noise, I’d love to hear from you!
Blessings,
Daniel Brandes, Music Director.
