Unmasking Racism: CBC Vancouver Virtual Town Hall

Unmasking Racism: CBC Vancouver Virtual Town Hall

Wednesday, June 17th at 7:00pm

A convergence of different major political events this year — a global pandemic, widespread economic instability and repeated police shootings leading to the deaths of Black and Indigenous people across North America — have put the spotlight on racism and lent new urgency to the conversation. During the town hall, hosts Angela Sterritt and Lien Yeung will be speaking to a diverse panel of experts about how systemic bias leads to everyday racial discrimination, inequality and discrimination in the workplace, and how the media plays a role in reinforcing and perpetuating harmful racial stereotypes and prejudices.

shifting the care paradigm

shifting the care paradigm

Rev. Karen Dickey's June 14th message

Matthew 9: 35- 10:8 The harvest is plentiful, we hear Jesus say right on the heels of this description of the sorry state of people’s lives. Harassed, helpless …  like sheep without a shepherd … abandoned, leaderless or at least without leadership that gives a wit about their well-being …if anything, is the source of the harassment -- which is not hard to relate to these days. So here’s Jesus standing amidst a great field of people in distress, and what does he say? “The harvest is plentiful.”  And we might wonder at what he sees … what’s the good, the fruitfulness to be gathered up there?
